chances getting pregnant.

Is there a chance I can ever get pregnant in the future after an abortion?!
Im scared i won't be able to because before i got pregnant , i was having unprotected sex for so much & i NEVER got pregnant until then when it happened. So i guess it was like a miracle baby , but i couldn't keep him/her because i wasn't ready. & that what hurts me. I feel like god brought it here for a reason, but i'm too young. But because of my condition (thyroids) i feel like it's probably gonna be hard for me to have a baby when i want one in the future. :/ but my bf says , "if you can get pregnant once, you can again" . But i'm just
scared i won't .

Well actually they never told me anything. They didn't know much about my condition , nor i asked them. But if i would've known, i wouldn't be on here asking here either.

With a previous abortion you do have a risk of infertility, and an increased risk of miscarriage, and an increased risk of incompetent cervix, but not all women do, as far as thyroid issues, I've gotten pregnant twice with thyroid issues so I wouldn't stress about that. Your boyfriend is wrong, just because you got pregnant once doesn't mean you can again, there are plenty of women that would vouch for that. You're also very fertile after being pregnant, so be careful this next month, and good luck!!

I'm just curious as to why the doctor who did the abortion didn't already pretty much answer your question.. With having any medical procedure shouldn't you be informed about all the risks, complications, possible side effects... Etc

Hmm because i have an appointment for next month.  & i am worrying about it cus i do want a baby later in the future , but thinking about how maybe i can't have one , makes me sad. So i want to know if i can or not so when the time comes & i want a baby, i would know that i can.
But i sure enough don't need advice for getting pregnant again. Cus im not dumb enough again.& birth control is the #1 one thing on my mind right now. I'm not having sex till i get it. Me & my bf had agreed to that already . So thank you :)

Why next month to get birth control? You should already be on it that way you wouldn't have had to get rid of a baby. I see abortion is a very touchy subject on this forum, girls on here have miscarried or cannot get pregnant, then a question like this arises. I know you're here for advice, but if you want my.honest opinion, yes you probably can get pregnant again but you seem far too young to even worry about it.

Use birth control for now.

I had a abortion only because after I got pregnant my man left me lost my job became homeless sleeping in and out of shelters I feel bad for doing the abortion but it was better than to be pregnant and having the unborn suffer cause of me. But now i'm 34+5 pregnant with a healthy lil girl due dec 2. Yes people will judge you without knowing your story but be strong the Lord will bless you with another one when the time is right....... By the way I just turned 24 years old..

Sweetheart, people who haven't had an abortion have NO ROOM TO TALK. It's a hard decision, one I comtemplated for weeks before deciding it was best for me and my at the time 15 month old daughter. This September was a year. In March of this year I met an amazing man and soon got pregnant with twins and when I lost them I thought God was punishing me for having an abortion, but now I'm pregnant again and having a healthy pregnancy! Your choices are your choices and do not let anyone make you feel guilty about it because its already a hard enough decision to make without people judging!! Keep your head up!

exactly. im 18 and im 27 weeks pregnant and i was having sex at 16. i knew if i were to pregnant then i would have to take responsibility. but if u cant keep it u cant keep it. adoption is a good choice. but i wouldnt be able to carry my bub for 10 months and then hand him over to someone. i just wuldnt be able too. i really praise the people n their strength when they do that! but thank gosh right now im able to have my baby. and when ur ready u can too. this little guy was planned. i wish u the best!! :)

& to everyone saying if i wasnt old enough for a baby, then i'm not old enough to be having sex, i mean i know i'm not. You don't know me or my story. It happened unexpectedly . So it was a shock & abortion was never a first option for me . But that was my only chance. But i'm not dumb enough to do it again. I mean come on people i'm not stupid. Just cus i'm 16 doesnt mean i don't know anything. I'm mature enough to know wassup.

Fair enough.i get the whole closure thing I missed carried my first baby. It took along time to get over, it made me want the baby in my belly now even more. Losing a child is hard no matter the circumstances, I understand. What help my husband and I get over the loss of our baby was we named them a gender neutral name, Devon to be exact. Maybe that will help you gain closure. Also there is nothing wrong with grieving for your loss. You will probably always think of your unborn child but it will get better.

Well then i'm glad to hear that i can :)
& to Shirano: adoption wasnt an option when i was pregnant. Cus me and my bf knew that if we would've put it to adoption, we wouldve want to keep it once we saw it. And i dont think i should've carried him for 9months & just give it away. But what's done is done . & he or she will be looking out for me & my future baby. I just need closure to it because i regret it now. :( but that's why i'm going to be successful from now on & when i'm ready to have one , i will .

Yes you should be able to get pregnant again if the abortion was done it a way that didn't affect your uterus. Also adoption is another way to avoid having to raise a child you are not ready for. But I agree that if you aren't old enough for a baby then you aren't old enough for sex.

And Not all people use abortions as birth control, somethings happen that we have no control over ....so please no need to judge her or me for thay matter. You dont know everyones situation . Im not saying abortion is birth control ! I've already had one & i am getting birth control next month. All i want to know is if i can ever get pregnant later in the future when i AM ready to have one. & if i do get pregnant soon again, ima take my responsibility and raise my child. I would NEVER have another abortion. I miss my little angel more then anything. <3
