potty training.

Im looking for some help on potty training. My daughter is 16 months now and I want to get her potty trained before November when her little brother arrives. If any of you have any advice or would be willing to share your stories. That would be very helpful.

Put her in big girl underwear, no pull ups! They will learn when they wet themselves. Also set your alarm on your phone starting every 10 minutes and give her a reward after each use. My alarm was a rooster crowing and a gummy bear or m&m. I found out in March we were expecting in November and my son was trained in two weeks. He will be 3 in September. Pull ups soak like a diaper. Yeah it's messy at first, but it is so worth it! Good luck!

Thank you everybody for your responses. Greatly appreciated. I have just started today. I have just been putting her on her little potty everytime I do and we just sit in there for about 10 minutes or so.. am I going at it the right way?

My daughter was very difficult to potty train, I tried almost everything the candy, bribery and so on. At first I was using one of those little toilet seats you place over the regular one and that didn't work. I only started getting results when I got one of those little potty chairs, used a sticker chart and checked out potty videos from the library for her to watch. 16 months might be a bit to young though so be patient and if she shows absolutely no interest in using the potty I suggest taking a break until she's two.. Good luck!

I agree, before 2 is very hard,  treats are good bribe, pull ups were too similar to a diaper for my son, so we skipped straight to underwear, good luck!

I went straight to panties I never used pull ups.. I gave my daughter a sticker when she went cause I didn't want to do the sweets...once a day she would get a sucker. Just start off with taking them every 30 min. Then taper off when u time how often they go...it is hard u just have to keep at it...good luck

I potty trained my son when he turned 2, before that nothing helped. What I did, I knew his morning #2 time, I would put him on potty and would try to distract him with Tv or something. Then after he would go we would clap, get really excited, tried giving snacks he wasn't to excited for that. Then we moved to his #1, I put him on potty couple of times an hour and made sound of pee, soon after he went we did the same and emptied the potty together.
after that he learned that the sounds means pee, I would put him on potty make the sound and he would go:) oh and right before we put him on potty I said "you wanna go potty, you wanna go potty" so later he learned saying " i wanna go potty" right before. Right now he is 2 and a half and he hasn't gone his #2 since he turned 2, but now he says I wanna go potty runs for it finishes in potty, then empties it in toilet and flashes the water:)  it is cute until you are out and he comes screaming "mommy I did a big poopoo" :)))) hey, he does it in the potty, I don't care:))))

Don't rush them if they aren't ready... It will only take longer and frustrate the both of you. If your daughter is showing signs of being ready then go for it. I have only potty trained my son and I know boys are girls can be different LOL. But I made a routine... In the am I would take him and sit him on the toilet as soon as he got up, then after breakfast....etc. We went and bought pull ups that he picked out. My son loved stickers so if he went potty he got stickers for his chart. (I'm anti giving kids candy at a young age... My son will be 5 and still hardly gets candy LOL.) He had accidents, but that's ok. We made potty time fun... Books, some favorite toys, etc.

They were a little younger than 2 and she used pullups at first and then panties that way if they had an accident they could feel that it doesn't feel too good
