I had an iud for 7 years. Ive been told they dont do the copper anymore but if they do I recommend it. I loved it. There are no harmones and it is 99.9% effective. Periods were normal except the last two years...I probably should have taken it out at that point...allwell no harm done
Do your research a lot! My Dr won't do them because of the risks, my mom runs a surgical center and they do about 5 a year where they are removing them from places they don't belong, they move and rip through the uterus and end up in the body
Awesome!!! Sounds like I should definitely consider Paragard then. I was just really worried about it falling out and me becoming infertile :-/ gotta love all the pregnancy worries lol Thanks ladies!!
I had the paragard for about a year and loved it! Its the only non hormonal birth control you can get so you don't have any moody side effects, you can nurse while you have it if you plan on nursing, it last up to 10 years if you want and it only took me a month to get pregnant after it was removed..got it taken out Oct.1st 2012 period on the 8th and then positive test on Halloween!! I'm now 34+5 weeks pregnant and plan on getting paragard again after this baby :)
I had the mirena for 2 years and absolutely hated it, I felt miserable just odd the whole time my periods were even heavier than before an I got pregnant on it then I tried the paraguard and that didn't agree with me either I had it taken out 7 months after getting it and got pregnant a month later .. I have about 3 other friends who hated them also. I getting my tubes tied this c section so i don't have to worry about bc any more
I had an i.u.d. before getting pregnant. I removed it after we got married in august and wasn't really trying to get pregnant I just wanted it to be possible if we wanted to. And in December I wound up preg. I still had my period every month while on the bc and the Dr said there should be no trouble after iud removal. I really liked the easiness of the iud and not having to do anything to ensure it worked. I had it for 2 years.
