If you eat an excellent and well ballanced diet, you don't even need a supplement. Most OBs prescribe a vitamin because most women don't eat well. I believe it is more important to increase your intake of healthy fats, green leafy vegetables, seafood, and calcium and iron rich foods. Sun flower seeds are very high in folate (folic acid) as are many types of beans. Black strap molassses is a great source of calcium, iron, and potassium. Green leafies are a good source for all kinds of minerals. Good healthy fats include fish oil, flax, tropical oils such as coconut oil, avacados, and (believe it or not) real butter from pasture raised cows which is high in vitamins A, D, and K; and CLAs with is a good cholesterol that helps your baby's developing eyes and brain, but can only be found in butter from cows that have been fed grass (so not your store brand butter. Try Organic Valley. They have a variety called 'Pasture Butter', but even their regular variety is likely to be from cows fed at least some grass because they are raised on family farms where is it practical for cows to be pastured, or try to find a local dairy farmer that feeds their cows grass.)
It's ok..;-) I've only just been able to take them every day this past week..I was too nauseous to take them every day..I took them if I was having a good day!! I'm almost 15 wks now..;-) missing a few days here n there isn't something to worry abt..I would worry if you never took any at all..
If you miss your vitamins you miss your vitamins. No damage is going to be done to the baby and it's not that big of a deal. Just try and take them every day
