I have been put on three different medications within the last week. Since I've started taking them I have been having these really disturbing thoughts & visualizations. I can actually visualize myself killing myself. I ran a bath yesterday, got in fully dressed holding a steak knife. I sat there thinking of how to kill myself without harming the baby. I wrote suicide letters the other day also. I don't really know what to do. I'm scared if I got to L&D or my doc they are gonna lock me up and take my baby away once its born. Has anyone else had this extreme of a mood change while on some medications?

That is good news, see you're not crazy ;) My levothyroxine did that in the beginning, glad you talked to someone thought instead of just ignoring it, and glad it's getting fixed!!

OK, I finally got a call back. The on call doc said it was the platelet medication and to stop taking it until they can do some blood work on Monday that my doc had set up. I of course felt so weird talk to this doc about what was going on but he told me that that medication has been known to do that to some people. He said to try not to be alone for the next 24 hours & if the thoughts come back to go straight to the ER. Thank you ladies for being so kind to me while I went through this, y'all are awesome.

They're not going to lock you up and take away your baby because of the affects of some medication. You should tell your doctor. They may give you a different type of medication. Please do this for yourself and your baby. You have a purpose here and your baby needs you more than anything!

Just have patience, wait for them to call. Keep yourself busy so your mind stats busy as well.  Everything will be ok I'm sure. Gud luck

I called and of course my doc is on vacation. I told them I was having disturbing thoughts & it was scaring me. The nurse said she would let the on call doc know about it & he should get back to me today. Last time they told me that I had to wait until they were closed before I was called back! I am lost now ....

Ask your doctor about suicidal thoughts and depression being a side effect of any of the new medications you're taking. Thyroid issues in general can cause anxiety and depression, so definitely talk to your doctor, you're not crazy hun, just a new change for your body!

I really, really doubt they'd get child protective services involved or lock you up since it's obvious it's the medication doing this to you.  I strongly feel you should call your doc ASAP and let them know what's going on.  This is a very serious matter, I really don't think you should wait any longer to contact your hospital.  Again, this is the medication doing this to your head, it's not you and the hospital staff will realize this.

They put me on antiviral meds, thyroid meds, & meds to bring my platelets up.

You should really get some help before u harm yourself and the baby you are not living for only yourself now u have to live for that baby of yours too

I assume these medications are causing this? Maybe you can just tell your doctor those medications aren't working out for you. Did you have these thoughts prior? I'd get off of them asap.

I would still go to ur doctor just dont tell him thr extreme. It may be just as easy as reajusting the dosage! i wish u the best of luck!
