random question

Hi all. My son is 8 days old & I'm with him from 730am to 330pm. (That's when my dad gets home) my hubby is gone till between 6-8 six days a week. Anyways, my question is, is it okay to lay your baby down while he is awake? This is my first baby & I'm trying to still figure everything out.

Thank you all! I laid him in his pack and play and he just laid there laughing, and I just put him in his swing and he's living it! I think I'm going to have to get a little bouncer.

Also there are the bouncers you can put them in or those play gym things that have lots of things for the baby to look at. Those are great because they learn to grab for things. But no there is nothing wrong with laying him down while he is awake. Sometimes you need a break from holding them :)

Swing worked awesome for me, it kept him busy, and happy, also a bouncer, or anything really, as long as he's not at in danger or risk of falling off anything, like don't leave him on the couch alone, obviously you know that, other than that, it's good for him to have some independence, or like the other poster said, you'll have your hands full later on!

I have a swing, right now he is laying on the couch beside me wide awake. I'm just worried I'm doing something wrong.

You want to make sure ur not holding ur baby too much, i made that mistake with my 2nd since i thought he was my last and now hes almost 2 and hes attached at my hip still. Putting him to sleep is a fight with out me there. Do u have a swing? You can put him in the swing or lay him in a bouncer chair or on ur boppy if u have one.
