smoking??

My husband nor I smoke and I keep saying I don't want people to smoke around me because I'm pregnant and I don't want people to smoke around my little girl when she gets here. But my husband's entire family smokes and I've asked them multiple times not to smoke around me cuz I don't want to breathe it in and they were good for a few months but now they smoke sitting right next to me and don't even care. We've asked them to stop but they just dont. So I told my husband that if they can't respect me enough to stop while I'm pregnant than I'm not leaving my newborn with them at all and if they want to see her they can come to our house because there is a no smoking rule in our house and my husband got really mad at me and almost walked out. Am I wrong for not wanting my baby around their smoke? 5 people live in his parents house who all smoke.

You're not wrong at all. My husband's family smokes but when they know there is someone pregnant or a baby under 2 around, they leave the room to smoke. Before they knew I was pregnant though, I would go outside or something until they were finished. Smoke is disgusting and your husband should support you with trying to keep away from it as well as keeping your baby away from it.

Id be pissed, some of my bfs friends are chain smokers and we use to all hang out together. Him and I dont smoke. Well i became pregnant and they just never quit no matter how much i asked. So i stopped going over there. Haven't been over therw in months and they know why. Its rude and disrespectful to smoke around a pregnant woman in my opinion, if his family cant put the cancer stick down for just a few mins while your around then they have the problem. Second hand is worse than actually smoking. I would just stop going over there period

That's how his family is. His brother and sister in law smoked with their baby and his mom smoked with him so of course they swear up and down I'll be fine but I got into a fight with them because I said this is my pregnancy not yours. But still they don't care. But my husband no longer cares. He think that no matter what people are going to smoke in front of her so it is pointless. I know for a fact that no one better be smoking in front of my baby. She doesn't need that. I'll keep her away from anyone I have to.

You're not wrong at all. I live with my grandparents and they both smoke in the house and don't care if they smoke around me, which makes me angry. My grandmas reasoning is that she smoked during her pregnancies so I'm fine, which isn't logical or respectful. I stay in my room with the door shut and I'm not bringing the baby out of my room unless they stop. But he should respect that. My bf wants me to move in with him as soon as possible to get us away from the smoke.

I don't think you're wrong. I showed my family the SIDS guidelines that not only say no yo cigarette smoke during pregnancy but for the first 12mths. Most of them quit but my dad still has the occassional when he's nowhere near us.

stay away from them go inside or just get away my husband smokes and ever since I been pregnant i stayed away from him when he is about to smoke I smoked till I found out I was pregnant that same day I gave him all my cigarettes and my husbands dad smokes in front of all the kids and I always tell him that it's wrong and just tells me to take them inside but I just STAY AWAY! I was 6 weeks pregnant and i would smoke so much when I found out I let it that instant no hesitation I don't know but if you don't like that then what are you doing close to them just get AWAY...

Nope you're not wrong at all! My bf smokes & he knws how much i hate it or when he comes up to me after he smokes..it's really bad for you to smell that it harms you & the baby..the baby can come out with any type of defect! i understand where your coming from & he's the father of the baby..but the baby health & your health comes first..even if you're not smoking it's still second hand smoke because you're inhaling it..if they're ever around your baby & they just finished smoking atleast they can brush their teeth & change their shirts!!! That's a must! Smoke stays on clothes, so they can smell it if they're being carried bu someone who does! i'm sorry things are like that, ican only imagine your anger! 5 people!! icant even deal with one, but hopefully they'll come around for the sake of your baby! I don't think you're wrong. You're doing what's best for you and your baby. My boyfriends family smoke I try to avoid them when they do cause I really don't wanna breathe their smoke I don't even want smoke to be around my baby! My boyfriend agrees with me and I know he'll be strict with his family about smoking next to our baby.
