starting to worry

so I couldn't get an appointment with a cardiologist till 22nd November but I'm about to ring him as my palpitations are getting really bad. They come on just from sitting down. Its also making it hard for me to breath. I'm starting to think maybe my heart isn't coping with the strain from the pregnancy. Or maybe my heart murmur is getting worse or worse than that and I've got the same heart disease my brother has got. I'm really starting to worry about it but can't seem to get a closer appointment. And the stress isn't good for my heart or my baby and I just don't no what to do now.

In the meantime you should get some support hose or stocking, they help to keep your blood pressure regulated.  Make sure you eat small frequent meals so there are no spikes or dips in bloodsugar which can elevate heart rate.  Make sure u get up very slowly.  I would have episodes where just sitting there my heart would race into the 180s.  I would go and lay down on my left side and everything would calm down.  This happened most of my pregnancy and nothing was ever found wrong with my heart. I was told that sometimes all the hormones can cause tachycardia.  Good luck.

Hi there

I would go to your local doctors as an emergency appointment and ask them to do a  reading of your heart . This will involve having several sticky  pads stuck to your chest and a machine will print out the results over a period od about 5 mins.  Hopefully if will catch you while you are having the palpitations.  If the doctor is worried he will have you admitted to hospital to be monitored there or he may just advise waiting for your appointment.

You are right that stress is not good for your baby and sometimes stress can actually cause these palpatations

good luck
