I used cocoa butter 3x daily and got stretch marks anyway. My friend who has 3 children and her 4th on the way used a general nivea lotion 2x daily and has not a single mark. Agree its genetics,  my mother has them and hers doesn't.  Good luck!

I personally believe it's 100% genetics. my mom never got any, and I didn't get any with my first pregnancy whatsoever....with my 2nd pregnancy I got 2 little marks near the very end, and both pregnancies my belly was HUGE...I mean twin-size kinda belly both times, lol.

I never used any creams or lotions, so i know it has to be genetics. drinking a lot of water helps the health and elasticity of your skin, so maybe that might help, and you could try a cream - cocoa butter seems to be the most highly recommended, but in all honesty you're either predisposed to get them or not.

I used Palmer's cocoa butter oil and lotion with my first and with my second, I am currently 31 weeks, I used those plus bio oil (or at least the Walgreen's brand of it).  I don't have many stretch marks, so I can't say for sure if it's the oil/lotions or what, but they do really help with the itchy dry skin so I am using them 2x a day regardless.

Agree. Creams dont do anything. I did not get any with my first child, but got some stretch marks in the last two weeks of pregnancy. I think it depends on your skins elasticity and also size of your pregnant belly.

Good luck.

No way to prevent them. Lotions help to ease itching and make it easier as your skin stretches but if you are predisposed to get stretchmarks you are going to get them. I used coca butter lotion, pure vitamin e oil, and another stretchmark lotion 3 times a day my whole pregnancy and still got stretchmarks.

No cream prevents stretch marks.  They are under the layer of skin that is susceptible to creams, lotions, etc.  Some people's skin gets stretch marks, other people's skin does not.  The tendency seems to be at least somewhat genetically linked. If your mom has stretch marks, you are likely to get them, if she does not, maybe you won't.
