strep b infection

i mc at 14 weeks in nov due to my waters breaking, the swab they took of my cervix has strep b bacteria so they treated me with antibiotics.
i am preg again and am scared that the same bacteria would cause my water to break prematurely again. i asked my gp to test me again so that i can be treated for the infection but he doesn't seem to see it as a problem -he told me to take rest and stay happy and i would be ok!!!!

i understand that strep b can cause serious disorders in babies during delivery too!!!

am i reading too much into this???what should i do?how do i get him to do the test and treatment?

I agree with Alaysha. I know that the swab for streptococcus B is taken at 35-36 weeks and they give antibiotics before delivery. I`m not sure that streptococcus has caused your spontaneous abortion. But I can`t understand the dr why he doesn`t take swabs again. Mycrobiology is a standard procedure during pregnancy.

I had it during my pregnancy and for what I believe if you have strep b they will always treat you for it during every pregnancy that you have there after. I'm not sure that is what would of caused you to miscarry though. Strep b is a bacterial infection that can cause problems if left untreated when you deliver. I haven't heard it to cause any complications during the actual pregnancy but I could be wrong. What they do is when you go to deliever your baby they put antibiotics in your iv 4 hours before you give birth to prevent it going to the baby. As long as you get the antibiotics the chance of it passing is extremely slim.
