Thank you ladies!! Seems like I'm stressing for nothing it would seem :-) haha
I had strep B with 2 of 3 of my boys and with one I received one IV bag of antibiotics (supposed to get 2) but he was perfectly fine and with my last, he just came flying out within 45 minutes of the onset of any signs of labor so I had no antibiotics. My midwife didn't even make it for the birth because she lives 40 minutes away from my house (planned home water birth). Anyway, all were perfectly perfect, so don't stress :)
I had strep b with one of my pregnancies and the others I didn't. They gave me antibiotics as soon as I went into labor on my own and I was only in labor at the hospital for 6 hrs and my daughter didn't get it so I guess it worked! Don't stress :) they just have to tell you the worst case scenario just in case so you can't say they didn't.
It is extremely common to be positive for strep b, you'll still go in to l&d when your contractions are 3-5 minutes apart or if your water breaks. The chance of baby catching it is very small, and generally happens as they pass through the birth canal. Don't worry mama it'll be ok :)
Your baby will be fine. They'll give you antibiotics to keep him from getting it. Don't worry :)
I think when it happens just call l&d and they will advise u....
Yeah I understand about needing antibiotics but that's all I know really.. My midwife doesn't like talking to me cause she has been rude since day one and my boyfriend didn't take it kindly so it's always get me in and get me out appointments so she doesn't explain anything or give you the information you need
oh and even if contractions start still go and be straight with them
you're baby wont die only 5% catch it and when they do they get a high fever don't worry and don't look thinks up on internet good luck hunni
I have that you have Antibotics through out labour till babys born your baby so if your warters break or leak you need to go hospital asap
