I got an epidural didn't hurt at all . Contractions hurt way worst in my opinion and that's what I was focused on.. after the delivery my Dr didn't want me getting up really but once I went to my room I was up in moving and that was like maybe 2 hours later.I felt fine.
Also a lot of people say they didn't feel the need to push but I could so its different for everyone. I felt like I really needed to poop with every contraction. It didn't hurt but instead was an annoying feeling. So I still had the feeling to push experience.
You can get a head ache. That is the most common sidw effect. Some women get chronic back aches after but that is a rare side effect. You don't have to stay any extra time. Usually within 30 minutes of having it taken out you start to get feeling back. You will be assisted to the bathroom after having it taken out to make sure you don't fall or pass out. The doctor will explain possible risks and side effects and have you sign a consent form before administering it.
I had it and loved it because I could sleep. I didn't think it hurt it just felt like a bee sting kind of. I had feeling on one side on like a half hour and then it took another half hour for the other side just because I was leaning and the medicine wasn't administered equally to both sides. With my husbands help and the nurse I could get up and pee right away though. And you can usually leave right on time so like a day or two. And I didn't have any side effects so im not quite sure because I don't remember.
I had an epidural with my daughter it worked great but i ended up with sciatica from it so im not getting another one and sometimes the epidural doesnt work for some ppl
