I didn't think I could do the BBT thing either, but I started doing it a year ago. I was originally doing it to avoid pregnancy. My husband and I decided to try to get pregnant in December. So since I had been charting for a year, I knew approx. when I was fertile. We got pregnant the first month that we tried. But again, I had been charting my temps for a year. OPKs and CM monitoring help, but the only way to know for sure that you ovulated and when you ovulated is to chart your BBT. OPKs and CM can also be misleading. It gives you clues, but again, can be misleading. If you decide to chart, Fertility Friend is a good one. That's what I used and I really liked it a lot :) I also have a picture of my chart under my photos in my profile if you are interested in seeing it and what it looks like. Good luck!
I am not a fan of BBT or OPKs to be honest. And I really don't know much about it. Some women test by mouth or vaginally before they get out of bed in the morning. That's just too much work for me! LOL! I'm not a morning person.
thank you and yeah i know about the discharge thing!! I just didn't know the abbr. the BBT its by mouth right it just sounds wierd.and it's suppose to be takin before you move too much right??? like before getting out of bed????
I didn't mean "mostly ovulating" at the end. I meant to say you're "most likely ovulating". Kind of mixed the words together. LOL!
EWCM- egg white cervical mucous. When you ovulate the cervix softens and you will have a discharge (notice it when you wipe after using the restroom). It resembles RAW egg whites. It's stretchy and clear. This means you are about to ovulate or are ovulating.
BBT- basal body temping. A method of taking your temperature to figure out ovulation.
EWCM is the most reliable method in my opinion and experience. So now that you have a rough idea of when you might ovulate, look for that EWCM when you use the restroom on those dates. Then you'll know for certain that you're mostly ovulating.
Those website calendars are only an estimation of when you could possibly conceive. I'd have sex from the 16th-25th if I were you just to cover all the bases! There are reasons for ovulation to come early or be delayed so be sure to have sex before and after your possible ovulation.
Also, it's always good to use 2-3 methods of determing ovulation. Whether it is OPKs, checking for EWCM, and/or BBT.
I think you should go both days it cant hurt. Good Luck!
