very upset!

I'm at my monthly OB appointment, and this is the THIRD time they've did a "surprise" glucose test and I'm only 21 weeks. I passed the other 2, even though they didn't tell me to fast so I don't understand why I'm doing it again. I'm so mad that I don't know whether to cry or cuss them out!

Repeating tests is normal here if you are high risk. I also.have gestational diabetes both pregnancies and have never measured big

I think they are just wanted to bill your insurance for unnessecary tests. I'm slightly overweight & still haven't had this test. I'm 24w+3 & have MANY close family members that have diabetes too. Unless you are measuring way big they shouldn't be re-testing you all the time.

I'm plus size and didn't get but one at 28 weeks. I weighed like 240 before pregnancy so I'm obese literally

And sadly even being slightly plus size increases your risk. I'm overweight but not massively. They are just being careful hun try not to think they're doing it to discriminate.

You are probably seen.as high risk because of family history. I had GD With my.first detected at 21 weeks. Tested this time at 18 weeks and was negative. Re tested at 28 weeks and positive.  Gd can occur any time they're just being careful. It's good they are testing you often. At least they are thorough. I have GD But not massive etc. And don't have diabetes outside of pregnancy nor do I have family with diabetes. I have something called PCOS though which is highly linked to.GD. Do you not have to fast for your test? We do here. As here eating anything after 10 the previous night can effect the result so.dunno why you weren't told.. anyway hope I helped somehow.. ask your doc why they keep testing but see it as a good thing. Gd Is serious and needs careful management ans monitoring so its a good thing they retest you to make sure it doesn't effect you.and baby. Xxx

Maybe they have done it early bc of the high risk of your disease...but a surprise test is crap, what if you craved something sugary before the test, i occassionally have a donut for breakfast, my doc clearly warned me to just eat a normal bf before the test!

Probably. I have it really bad in my family. This time they only did it at 26w. I'm sorry you've had so many! I gag and dry heave while drinking it and puked after the one with my daughter. Lol.

I'll do that. They're probably testing me so much because of diabetes that runs in my family.

I had one at 18w with my dd and they scheduled one at 25w that they cancelled bc I did pass the first test and the only risk factor I had was diabetes in my family. I wasn't overweight. But it could be that they aren't recording in your chart that you've taken it. Speak with your ob and ask how many more and why.

I've lost 30 pounds this whole pregnancy...and I'm not so plus-sized where people are like "OMG". I just don't understand why they keep testing if I pass all of the tests. It's ridiculous. I'm going to throw up the nasty orange syrup stuff on them the next time they test me and then laugh at them.

If you gain excessive weight they will do more than one it if runs in your family.

I mean I understand that I'm plus-sized and everything, but I've never had any problems because of my weight and I feel like they're discriminating against me because I am plus-sized. I mean, testing 3 times before I'm even at that point where I have to be tested? It's just ridiculous.

I have blue choice medicaid. The biggest thing for me is delivering at greenville memorial since that's where my baby will be transported to if he has to be in the nicu for any reason, or if something goes wrong during labor. I'm going to call greenville midwifery and see if they'll accept me since I'm high risk because of my kidney disease. I really just need a new doctor, and I have to deliver at greenville memorial because it would really put my mind at ease.

Hey acline what insurance do you have? I have first choice and I go to a private practice. There are a bunch out there that accept medicaid and don't advertise it.

I really don't think they're putting it on my record either, because when I told the nurse that I've had this test 3 times already she's like "wow, really?". I'm going to start searching for a new doctor.

They said if they can detect it sooner then it's better, but I'm just wondering how many more times I have to take this stupid test! It's like they're wanting me to have it.
