I didnt read all of that but i smoked my whole pregnancy. They dont test til birth im pretty sure. i stopped smoking at 36 weeks. They test the baby when it comes out.
But take a test anyways. Go to the dollar store n pick one up.
I would say take a test if its positive then quit. They test at birth but its not good for your baby
okay. do you live in va? and do they test it when you first go to the gyno?
so you just stopped, did like a social worker talk to you early on or anything and do you live in va too?
Nope i dont live there but i think jts generally the same. I dont think most places even test unless ur doc suspects something. Its just bad cuz the baby doesnt get as much oxygen when ur inhaling smoke but if ur worried just quit. Its not worth losing your baby. Child services will take him/her if u or the baby fails.
But i never told my dr or anything so,i didnt talk to a social worker.
okay because i didnt say anything about my use prior or nothing just said im almost two months late lol. okay well that helps thanks so much
Buy a test? Your far along to get a right answer no doubt
They test you when you go in for your first appointment when they do your std screen and all that
You should stop smoking anyway this is your child's and your health. Don't screw up your kid like that it seems selfish
Yeah be careful, they just passed / are passing a nation wide bill that criminalizes any pregnant woman who does any drug of any kind, certain states take it father then others but there is a base bill fighting against it. I quit smoking refer at 34 weeks because I don't want to chance losing my baby, I don't feel weed is harmful but my opinion doesn't matter since the government feels otherwise. Be careful hun, baby comes first.
Samantha there is no evidence that suggest marijuana is harmful to a fetus, children of weed smokers actually test better then people who don't smoke, they develop faster. Research it and by research I don't mean Google, go to a scientifically backed website that has actually done testing and are able to sight findings, not a site bashing it from start to finish giving BS statistics. Ok hun, thanks.
They test every baby. Anything you take drug wise is in the baby's blood from 16 weeks on, I would say stop now just to be sure.
Fetal blood and maternal blood do not mix.
^^ that is inaccurate, is does not remain in the system that long (16 weeks on), you were miss informed Julymom.
Smoking anything at all deprives a fetus of oxygen. That is not my opinion, it is a fact.
Smoking marijuana during pregnancy has not really been studied due to obvious ethical reasons. Any "study" that may be out now is not a true scientific study and is just based off of what is found after the fact (which a lot of other factors could play a part in as well). It is proven though that THC affects developing brain cells of teens who smoke so I don't see why it'd be any different in a developing baby's brain. Baby will be tested at birth and remember although something clears your system is doesn't necessarily clear the baby's system in the same amount of time. Usually it takes much longer.
I know in VA they test the first stool sample. A girl in my family, we live in VA, Just had her baby and his first stool came back positive for weed (idk how long she smoked for), and now CPS has to come out to the house and she's tested every so often.
Its not good to smoke while pregnant. It deprives baby of oxgyen and increases their risk of future addiction and depndency. Its not the responsible thing to do
Honestly, i would quit just in case, not worth the risk. A study was very recently released on the effects on a fetus, and they are nothing good. It can mess around with the learning part of a fetuses brain, and who knows what else. No matter what, just the risk of something happening is not worth getting a buzz.
Sure its been studied knufro, on patients who have been prescribed marijuana for health reasons and until recently it had to be stopped due to the baby not having a choice in what the mother does, hun whether or seems like a good idea or, it's been studied and your wrong. And marijuana is non addictive so the child won't become more dependent because that addictive myth about Mary J has been debunked. Seriously I wouldn't ask this question on here, seems people are just stating their opinions and not actually looking into it before opening their mouths.
Medicinal marijuana is far different from regular "street" marijuana. You cannot compare the effects of the two.
All your symptoms lead to pregnancy. I would go get test done and go book an appt. My ob saw me at 8wks. I don't recommend smoking while pregos either bc you dont want to risk your baby's health or chance of it being taken away
