what exactly is group b strep

Is it kind of like a uti infection? Just don't know alot about it and the nurse wasn't very informative just know that they will have to give me anti biotics during labor through iv.

It is strep bacteria that is naturally found in you digestive tract and is other wards harmless but can cause baby to get sick if present in your vagina or rectum at time of delivery. That is why if you test positive for it they will give IV antibiotics during labor.
