thank you too, i was always under the impression it was two weeks after first day of your period, this site is so usefull thank you x
hey :) thanks for all that advice it helped alot! :)
KitKat is correct - ovulation occurs about 2 weeks before your period. Ovulation causes a hormonal chain reaction that will determine when you get your period, not the other way around. Most women get their period within 12-16 days after ovulation though the average is 14 days (which is where the "2 weeks" comes in).
So estimate when your next period will be, then deduct 14 days. If you normally have 28-day cycles then you should expect to ovulate on or around Cycle Day 14 (CD14). Always give yourself a few days before and after that estimation as ovulation can occur sooner or later than expected.
You should also watch for signs of ovulation which includes cervical mucous (CM). You'll notice discharge that is clear, white or yellowish when you use the restroom. This means your cervix is softening in preparation for ovulation. My rule is to have sex whenever you have normal discharge! Abnormal discharge is green and smells bad (sign of infection).
You may also have cramping on one side during ovulation. You may also have other symptoms similar to PMS (mood swings, bloating, etc.).
And the number one thing to remember is HAVE FUN! Stress can cause delayed ovulation and late periods, etc., etc.
Oh ok thanks :) and im not really sure..i thought i was pregnant but im not i dont think...

If you have a normal 28 day cycle then usually you ovulate 14 days BEFORE your next period is due. So really you should be having sex every other day from cd 9 or 10 onwards so that you have a build up of sperm in there for when you do ovulate. You can google signs that your body may be about you ovulate...change in cervical mucous is a big one to look out for and this will become more creamy and egg white like just before you ovulate. Some women however do not even notice when they are about to ovulate so it really just depends on the person. Is there any reason why your last period was 3 weeks late?
ok thanks and I think im normally 28 days but this one was the weird 3 weeks late one...but yeah I thought it was 14 days and then it could go back 6 more days too...is that right?
hi - your most fertile 14 days after the first day from your period i think this depends on how many days are in your cycle eg the 14 days is based on normal 28 day cycle - good luck x
