A big thanks to all of your responses! I currently have a almost 3 yr old son but we were not trying when i got pregnant with him! So this is all very new for us:)

My periods are typically not on the same day/week each month. They very by a week each month give or take. I THINK i have a 30 day cycle. My last period started on either June 2nd or the 3rd. We have been having sex every other day since the second week in June(right after my period ended.) I was able to take a ovulation test yesterday and it had a faint line..so i did make sure to have sex that day. Would this mean that i need to keep trying?? How many days after you ovulate should you continue to "try?"

depending how familiar you are too all of this it can be confusing. Like what was said before womens cycle days vary by length. The first day you start your period is the day you want to start counting. A lot of women have 28 days in their cycle, so that would mean 14 days from your first day your period you would typically ovulate, once you ovulate that egg is good from 24-48 hours, so you obviously want to make sure you know those days if possible. Sperm can live inside of a women and fertilize an egg at the most 7 days. So you are going to want to try to time having sex around this. So if it were me and i had a 28 day cycle I would have sex everyday or every other day starting 10 days after your first period. You can also look for signs of ovulation, but realize that not all women get these signs. The most common is to look at your cervial mucus (gross but can tell a lot). When you start to get an increase of discharge at first it is usually clear and thin, that lets you know it is getting close, it will then turn a whitish color and get thicker (it will strech if you put in between your fingers) and that is a sign you are ovulating or about to ovulate, so definatly bed that day if possible!! Good luck and let me know if you have any more questions! I went from know known of this to way too much :)

well first off it depends on how long your cycles are. And also not everyone ovulates the same time every month. Some women ovulate as early as cycle day 10 and as late as cycle day 17 and thats with a normal 28 day cycle. If your trying to get pregnant and have a normal 28 day cycle then you may be ovulating around the 14th day of your cycle. Which would have been the 16th. Also I would suggest buying ovulation test you can buy them at the dollar store for a dollar and the lines both have to be dark in color and if they are then that means you are about to ovulate. You also can temp to make sure that ovulation really took place. There is alot of ttc stuff on the web and how to get pregnant. But I think the best way is to BD every other day up to the day of ovulation and then bd like 2 times that day. if you need any more help you can send me a message.
