Does anyone else have tingling?

I have been having tingling sensations all over my entire body....from head to toe. They are causing me to feel itchy and it also feels like a burning sensation at times. It also feels like "electrical currents" run through my body. Does anyone have these same symptoms or know what could be causing this? IT has been happening off and on for about 2 years now and the first time it ever happened in 2006 it was also accompanied with severe pain in both of my legs.My mother has MS and i have read that it is possibly genetic.

Hi

The sensation of pins and needles (paresthesia) is an uncomfortable tingling or prickling or numbness, usually felt in the hands or feet. It generally has no long-term consequences. It may be due to awkward position of limbs while sleeping, leading to pressure against the nerves or reduced blood supply locally.

However, if persistent, it may indicate nerve damage or certain disorders of the central nervous system  such as restless leg syndrome, multiple sclerosis, carpel tunnel syndrome, alcoholism, hypothyroidism, medications, or vitamin B12 deficiency, to name a few.
The diagnosis of MS is based on a classic presentation (ie, optic neuritis, transverse myelitis, internuclear ophthalmoplegia, paresthesias) and on the identification of other neurologic abnormalities, which may be indicated by the patient history and exam. Typical findings on an MRI also help establish a diagnosis of MS.
Since you have a family history of MS, it is advisable that you visit a neurologist for diagnosis and management.
Take care
