Hi,

Epidermal nevi are congenital hamartomas having hyperplasia of the epidermis and/or its associated components. They are classified based upon the location, morphology, site of involvement and the histological appearance.
They can be associated with diseases of the nervous system, eye disorders, bone disorders etc. (epidermal naevus syndrome). This usually needs multi specialist medical care.
Medical advice should also be taken if there is a change in the size/appearance of the nevus as they can occasionally be associated with malignant change. Some of them are benign lesions and can be left as such if they are not associated with any complications. Removal for cosmetic reasons can be done using surgery or by laser therapy.

Take care and do write in if you need more information.
Regards
