Hi!
High gastrin levels are seen in gastrinoma, which is a tumor in the pancreas or duodenum. This tumor secretes high amount of gastrin which causes ulcers in the duodenum, stomach and the small intestine. High gastrin levels are also seen in Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.
The gastrin levels may be elevated in gastric distention caused by gastric outlet obstruction. Any condition causing lowering of gastric hydrochloric acid, called gastric hypo- or achlorhydria, also increase gastrin levels. These include surgical excision of antrum, gastric dumping syndrome and atrophic gastritis with or without pernicious anemia.
You need urgent investigation to find the cause. Take care!
