Latest diagnosis after 4 years of declining health, no continued care or interest by medical community. Lost and looking for a doctor to help.

After four years of varying symptoms including stroke like symptoms, vision impairment, vertigo, gait/balance issues, muscle contracting and total loss of muscle strength use, memory problems, speech impairment, interrmittent, depression, total loss of independance, prolonged periods of time in bed because of fatigue, depression, seizures both absence, jackson, partial/focal seizures, whether psuedo in nature or actual seizures, my diagnosis continues to evolve and change and what was once diagnosed as a stroke in my basal ganglia, MS, vertigo/inner ear disorder, bi=polar depression, conversion disorder, irregular blood flow/pressure to my temporal  lobe, I really don't know what to believe other than I wish I could find one doctor who would take an interest other than throwing numerous medications at me and follow through with interest and treatment options and perhaps admit that this is some neurological disorder that is complicated by my going through hormonal change with menopause, offer some ideas as to rehab to rebuild muscle strength which is lost after such great lengths of time in bed, and offer hope and connection with other patients suffering from a similar fate as I have encountered. I have gone from being a business woman, enterprenuer, artist, raised two daughters successfully and had no inkling that turning 50 would turn my whole world upside down...turning 49 actually. No one has been able to help me, the depression has reach desperate lows, and now doctors are trying blame the psychological problems that have resulted from these ongoing ailments of 4 years as the cause of the problem in the first place...??? I just want constructive help. Some of the earlier symptoms of daily nausea, vertigo, vomitting have eased greatly but I now suffer from 2 - 5 seizures a day. Any ideas of a place to go for further study? I have relocated from Markham, Ontario to Halifax, Nova Scotia. Any referrals to clinics or Dr.'s specializing in these vague but disabling symptoms? Thank You.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi,
How are you?I agree with Leigh that you should keep looking for solutions. Be vigilant with your health and stay positive and hopeful always. Aside from the medications, other options while waiting for your next consultation are complementary and alternative medicine such as biofeedback therapy, relaxation techniques, acupuncture and other methods mentioned by Leigh. Check your local hospitals which doctors can help with your symptoms. Take care and do keep us posted.

It took me three years of similar debilitating symptoms and physicians telling me my problems were psychogenic before I found a neuroendocrinologist to help me.  I am a 40 year old female.  This is the first month in the past 32 I haven't had problems.  My Dr. gave me a Lupron shot and basically shut down my estrogen production.  I find it amazing that so many women have problems as they reach perimenopause and most physicians have not put this together with a changing body chemistry.  I am hopeful this will continue to be the solution.  If several months of this shot continue to make me feel normal, I will have a hysterectomy and be done with it for good (I HOPE!)
When times were at their worst, I tried lots of things that helped.  Some of the best were Craniosacral Therapy, Acupuncture, Chiropractic - NUCCA in particular and Biofeedback.  Of course, my insurance wouldn't pay for these, so it can be cost prohibitiive, but you owe it to yourself to try to accept your chronic illness, deal with it as best as possible and keep looking for solutions.

Good Luck!
Leigh
