My wife was just told she has a 2 mm syrinx from T5 to L1. Symptoms include lower back pain, pain radiates down right leg and both feet. What do we do now?

Hi,
How is your wife? With syrinx, surgical decompression of the foramen magnum and upper cervical cord is the only useful treatment. However, this usually can not reverse severe neurologic deterioration. It is best that you have this checked by your doctor for proper management. Further evaluation and additional tests will help determine the best course of action. Do keep us posted. Take care and best regards.

Hi Vern,

We have a forum here on MedHelp for chiari/syringomyelia....and we have a thread of drs that other members have used and liked.

Ur wife should get checked to see what else might be going on like a tethered cord, chiari , Ehlers-Danlos, pusedo-tumor cerebri.....

I hope u stop by our chiari forum and read some of the threads......also research the drs....there r many sites with info like The Chiari Insititute.....u can find syrinx info.
