macular pucker and cataract surgery at the same time

i take prednison and developed a macular pucker in my left eye.  I cannot see much out of the left eye.  My right eye has recently developed a small macular pucker and I was told both eyes have ripe cataracts.

One doctor suggested he could remove the cataract and the macular pucker at the same time...my question is, should these two procedures be done at the same time and what are the risks?

Hi,
How are you? A macular pucker is scar tissue that forms on the eye’s macula, and may cause blurred and distorted central vision. It is possible to have this removed together with the cataract. However, other factors should also be considered such as age, medical history, size of the scar tissue and presence of co-morbid conditions. Talk to your doctor about this for proper evaluation. Direct clinical examination is important. Take care and regards.
