suffering from double vision

Hi. I am girish

I met an accident 2 weeks ago, resulting injuries on  my head, arm & face. everything healed except my eyes which were seeing every object twice looking at straight & downward. looking upward is normal. if i see through any single eye. it sees normal. but looking with both eyes open creates problem for me. in medical tests my eyes are normal. I've cleared OCT test (for the nurve which connects eye to mind) hopefully that is fine. and doctor says it will be fine in some time

now what according to you is the real problem, how it can be treated and what is the time expected and anything important regarding this

plz let me know

Thanks

Hi,
How are you? I understand how it frustrating it is to not know the underlying cause especially if several tests have been done and more than two months since your accident. It is good though that the recent MRI was fine, you may need to wait for complete healing or you may also try seeking another opthalmologist's opinion. Hang on and stay positive. Take care always.

Hi

in my latest MRI everything is normal. bleed is gone & nothing seems toubling.

its really getting irritating that what is the real prob & sometimes it feels that recovery is getting slower or stopped.

my optha says now surgery cant be done, eyes are not in situation to operate and prob is less than earlier. everything seems strange. is there no way out to know the exact prob & solution??

thanks

Hi,
How are you? It is good that there is now improvement in your vision. The length of recovery depends on a lot of factors such as your age, medical history and extent of the condition. Usually the outlook is discussed in follow-ups depending on the result of the evaluation.  Continue your medications and exercise and have a regular follow-up with your doctor. Take care always.

Hi,
Thanks for the update. Extra-axial hemorrhage or bleeding that occurs within the skull but outside of the brain tissue, can be due to epidural hematoma, subdural hematoma and subarachnoid hemorrhage. These can occur with history of trauma also. Correlation with the symptoms also help and the outlook for these types of bleed can be good when recognized and treated. Loss of consciousness, severe bleeding, and seizure are symptoms to watch out for.  Take care always.

Hi gishu,
Thanks for the update. It is good that you were able to see a specialist today. The outlook for cranial nerve palsy depends upon the underlying cause. Patients may  recovery spontaneously within a few weeks with proper monitoring and follow-up. Hang on and do keep us posted with your appointment. Best regards.

Hi,
It is difficult to evaluate over the internet since direct clinical examination is essential. If your doctors said that the bleeding in the brain is not dangerous and that the vision symptoms will resolve, this is positive outlook. A second opinion from a local doctor that can evaluate you may also help ease any worries. With regards to complementary and alternative medicine, this may also be helpful since there are many conditions that have benefited from this. Take care always.

Hi,
Thanks for the update. It is possible that the vision symptoms be due to physiological causes. Can you elaborate on the bleeding?  Bleeding in the brain may cause swelling and edema. This may lead to an increase pressure on brain tissue, reduce vital blood flow and kills brain cells. A neurological exam or eye exam, blood tests and a lumbar puncture may also be indicated. Treatment for bleeding in the brain depends on the location, cause, and extent of the hemorrhage. Certain medications and even surgery may also be indicated. Hope to hear from you soon.

Hi Girish,
How are you? It is good that the medical tests were fine. Was there imaging studies done? The vision symptoms can be an effect of the accident and may resolve after a few days. Further examiantion by an opthalmologist or neuro-opthalmologist may help determine the underlying cause. Take care and do keep us posted.
