Chest X-Ray - Should I worry? Any Radiologists out there?

Hi. I am worrying that I might have early stage lung cancer.
I had an x-ray for a suspected chest infection (symptoms: pain in upper back when breathing in, persistant dry cough, general unwell feeling).
The report came back that there were signs of 'resolving infection' - however the radiologist flagged up 'pronounced hilar on left lung' - I caught a look at the report to the GP and it scared to **** out of me - it said 'confidentially we cannot completely rule out the possibility of a lesion'.
What the hell does that mean?
I had a further x-ray done in Casualty after that and the doctor there showed me it. He said in his opinion it wasn't anything to worry about. That my lymph nodes were probably enlarged due to infection.
I'm 40 and have never smoked.
I'm still unwell with a possible secondary infection and on antibiotics.
Does anyone know if this is common? Do the lymph nodes enlarge? I guess they would rush me in if they thought there was a serious problem?
Any radiologists out there willing to put my mind at rest?

Cheers x

Thanks Sunny. You have reassured me that I may be worrying too much.
Its the way they write the report thats so scary. 'confidentially we cannot completely rule out the possibility of a lesion'. Your mind immediately screams 'You've might have a tumour!' And from that point your illness from a probable chest infection is imagined as cancer symptoms.
Thanks for your kind advice.

I am not a radiologist, but yes...lymph nodes do enlarge especially if there is an infection. RAdiologists have to include all possible diagnosis when they read a x ray, it doesn't mean that there is a lesion, but it cannot be ruled out 100% so they have to include that differential on the report. Your doctor then takes in consideration what is going on with you and gives his diagnosis or opinion.
I have had enlarged lymph nodes with infections in my lungs, eventually they go away. If you are still unwell, see your doc so that a new plan can be made for your treatment.
I hope this helps...Sunny
