I have been suffereing with a chronic cough for almost 2 years. I have had an ECG,chest x-ray, 2 blood tests, 3 CT scans, a barium swallow,a lung function test,2 bronchocopies a laryngoscopy and lung biopsy. I have been on oral steroids, reflux medication, asthma medication, antibiotics and 2 different nasal inhalants. The only relief I had was from the oral steroid(prednisone) but I was only allowed to stay on that for 5 days at a time. All the tests have revealed nothing out of the ordinary. I can walk distances without problems until I encounter stairs, then I easily become out of breath. Also, like clockwork, I have a coughing fit as soon as I get out of bed in the morning-then throught the rest of the day I'll cough.
I have a paralyzed vocal cord (left side) which I had treated a few years ago with surgery(implant put in place) however it is unknown if this is having an effect on the cough as I had the implant in place for 4 years before the cough without any problems.
I saw the ENT specialist today who is at a loss as to what to do now( he was trying sinus treatment-the antibiotic, nasal inhalants and prednisone) so I have no further appointments with any specialist and am left to my own devices.
Any suggestions as to what to try next????
