It hurts, help?

On January 8th, I starte experiencing very painful feelings in my chest. It would be either in the center or move from lower left to upper left/right.

It's been over 13 weeks now, and I'm worried. The doctors dismissed it as pleurisy, and basically wouldnt listen to what I was saying.

I'm debating on going to the ER because I cannot stand the pain anymore.

It veries from mild to severe.

Severe being after I take a bite of food, a sharp pain strikes me in the chest. Its so painful I burst out in tears, and I stop breathing because I'm afraid of what taking a breath will do.

Another severe moment was when I reached upward for something while at the same time, taking in a breath. I got that same sharp pain.

I've had an echocardiogram, xray and blood test. All are normal.. of course.

Sometimes during these severe moments, I'd break out in a sweat, and get a temporary fever (5-10 minutes) and I sometimes feel nauseous.

I've got a list of symptoms, and they vary greatly:

Feeling of not being able to get enough air
Breast plate/Chest feeling dislocated at times
Irregular heartbeat
-Made worse by emotional stress
Pain or Discomfort
-Sharp/Stabbing/Dull/Achy/Pressure/Heaviness
-Moderate to Severe
Pressure or Heaviness
-Worsens with physical activity and emotional stress
-Sometimes better with rest
Tightness
-Dull /Achy
-Made worse by coughing/sneezing, physical activity and emotional stress
Rapid Heart Rate
-Made worse by emotional stress and exercise or physical activity
Shortness of Breath
-Moderate
-Made worse by daily activities, emotional stress, exercise/physical activity, and daily activities
-Sometimes better with rest
-Sudden/Gradual
Palpitations
-Made worse by emotional stress
-Sometimes better with rest
-Sudden/Gradual
Labored Breathing

The doctors office keeps wanting to test my heart, but I just know it has nothing to do with it. The pain is in other parts of my chest.

I dont know what to do. I'm tired of the pain, and tired of having to cry. Having people freak out in public isnt fun.

What should I do?

Thanks.
The pain when I ate only happened 2 or 3 times. It hasnt happened for a month or two. It wasnt like heart burn though, it felt as if it was in my chest wall itself. I'm actually having a pain right now. Its a new one. In the upper right of my chest. Sharper than usual and when I exhale.
My mother said something about getting a holter monitor too, but that our insurance company didnt cover it or something along those lines. I'm thinking about taking a trip to the hospital, but when you have no money a $100 co-pay doesnt agree with you.

I would let the doc look at your heart for completeness sake. That way you would at least know if it is your heart or not. You said that you have horrible pain after you eat, did the docs think that this could be bad heart burn? I know how painful it can be, I have a very severe case and am on lots of meds to control it. Pain can actually cause you to break out into a sweat, I have actually seen it with patients that I took care of as a nurse. One person had what was called a vagal response, he became very sweaty, pale, his heart rate dropped and so did his blood pressure. IT was very weird!
As far as heart reasons, maybe you have arrythmias...they can most certainly cause chest pain when they are bad enough. I have SVT (supraventricular tachycardia), when it was uncontrolled, (heart rate >180), I had dull, achy chest pain along with shortness of breath, becoming pale and dropping my blood pressure. Now that it is well controlled, things are better.
You should get a holter monitor (a device that monitors the rhythm of the heart for 24 hours) or better yet, an event monitor that you put on for weeks at a time. You push the button whenever you have the palpitations, it records for a period before and after the event. You then call it into a service and your doctor interprets it. This is how I was diagnosed with SVT.
I hope that you get answers soon...Sunny
