dry cough

For the past three days I have had a non-productive dry cough which has me fatigued, feeling heaviness in my chest and a little short of breath at times. I am a healthy 67 yr old, do not smoke, have high blood pressure or heart problems other than a rapid pulse [from 80-110 depending on activity]. I have recently and in the past cleaned my bathroom floors with straight chlorine bleach on the floor pouring water over it and mopping. The odor is strong and I must keep the door closed.
This is probably the cause. I would like to know what I can do to get rid of the symptoms short of a doctor visit. Would O2 treatment temporarily at home help? Any other home treatment you can recommend?
Thank you in advance.

Jaylene

I get the same thing sometimes, and I know inhaling bleach odors can make it worse. What I find will help is an inhaler, or nebulizer. Also, try to drink about 20oz of water every 30min, keeping hydrated can solve many problems.

You can do something at home.
This pranayam(breathing technique) will help to improve your breathing and start to ease the other symptoms as the oxygen level increases in your blood.
Build up your timing gradually. If you feel tired or dizzy, stop and resume after one minute.
Anulom Vilom –
Close your right nostril with thumb and deep breath-in through left nostril
then – close left nostril with two middle fingers and breath-out through right nostril
then -keeping the left nostril closed  deep breath-in through right nostril
then - close your right nostril with thumb and breath-out through left nostril.
This is one cycle of anulom vilom.
Repeat this cycle for 15 to 30  minutes twice a day.
Children under 15 years – do 5 to 10 minutes twice a day.
You can do this before breakfast/lunch/dinner or before bedtime or in bed. Remember to take deep long breaths into the lungs. You can do this while sitting on floor or chair or lying in bed.
While doing anulom vilom, keep your eyes closed, concentrate on the third eye (point in between the eyebrows).
When you have built up your timing to more than 15 minutes, you will notice that your symptoms will start to ease. Try to do 30 minutes.
For cough:
make half a glass of onion juice and warm the juice,
add ginger powder and honey,
and drink it slowly.
This will help the cough.
