Levofloxacin 500 for recurrent TB

My friend has an attack of TB, after 14 years healthy. She is taking Levofloxacin 500. Is there anything available that will do the trick with less side effects, she is quite sick and I'm worried she might not make it. She is Indonesian and the standard of medical care here leaves plenty to be desired. Any advice would be dearly appreciated.

Careful with Levofloxacin. Sometimes the side effects aren't worth the benefits. I took Levofloxacin to cure a bout of pneumonia. Sure enough, the infection cleared up, but my joints ached so bad I could not raise my arms to take a shower, put my clothes on, bend to tie my shoes, get in and out of a car quickly. Strength training and jogging was out of the question for a month.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello and hope you are doing well.

Levofloxacin is prescribed for patients who are intolerant to first-line antituberculous agents or who are infected with drug-resistant organisms. It is also prescribed based on the sensitivity, means that the organism is responding to this medication. If her clinical symptoms are improving then she is responding to the medication.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
