undiagnosed still

It's been a while ,but would like some further feedback .

Prior thread , I couldn't reply to/on it :

I'm with another Pulmo , nothing much has changed . I'm now getting colored phlem day and night , exaughed most of the time .

Last Pulmo has been following about 2 years . Last visit in Oct.,2007 after 6 months .

I had just finished a corse of antibiotics and pain meds for wisdom tooth extraction , so I was feeling a bit better . I had another breathing test with the machine done .

The Dr. said you may not feel like it and even may feel worse but your breathing test indicate your breathing is better .

So I question the Pulmo , what exactly do I have then ?
Answer , Well there's really no name for it , it's a cross between chronic broncitis and mild ahsma .

I said why don't you do a biopsy ?
No  that won't show anything .

Why not try a 3 month course of antibiotics, like we were going to do before ?
No, I'm not comfortable with that .

Just keep doing the nebulizer treatments and inhalers , were're doing all we can .
See ya in a year .

So, I'm left hanging again being told I have to live with it .

What now , I'm 53 . ?

Xopenex 1.25/3 ml . 1 vile every 6 hrs. as needed / Qvar 2 puffs twice a day .

Not able to get a good sputum sample since 2003 .

Lung x-rays clear / Ct scan - some middle lobe scarring & plural thickening .

Drs. say they are doing all they can ?

What are you on as far as nebs and inhalers? Sometimes it takes different combinations to get relief. I know it did with me..
As far as you phlegm, you said it was colored. Did the docs ever get a good sample to determine what bacteria are present? Sometimes docs do what is called a bronchoscopy to get good samples and to get a good look at the lungs but this is usually something that is reserved for last. If there is alot of mucous, then it could easily be chronic bronchitis.
I don't remember what the CT scan showed with you, what did it show again?
I hope you find answers, I wish I could be more helpful...this must be so frustrating for you. Sunny
