Azithromycin for Epididymitis?

About 2 months ago, I felt a tingling sensation in my testicles, only for a moment, then 2 days later it came back, 4 days later it became constant. Nothing hurt, just small tingling. I usually didn't feel it except when I would lay down to sleep and be calm. About a week later it grew and at week 2 it stopped. I had no swelling, no lumps anywhere, no redness, nothing. Then about 4-5 days after it stopped, it started up again. Now my testicles were a bit redder than before, not much but a little. Still no swelling, no pain just tingling. I also think the testicles were a bit warm. Then a week after it went away.
I have 1 varicose vein in my left testicle. I think it's always been there.
Now 4 days after it came back again.
I talked to a doctor that the pain isn't excatly in my testicle but kind of behind it. He said it's most likey epididymitis and I should get on Levaquin for a week.
I took it for 2 days. By the second day I was feeling great. But then I felt a pain in my knee and read up on the side effects. I quit right away. I still have a bit knees pain. So i switched to Doxy, for 2 weeks 100mg a day the 1 week and twice a day the 2. I felt better some days but I'm still felling the sensation. It comes and goes now. Some parts of the day I don't feel, some I do. It's different than when It started, It's a bit more strong. It's not a pain, It's like a slight burning now.
4 days before this started, I was helping a friend clean his old basement. I might have caught something. I was also digging soil.
Still I have no swelling or big redness. Just like a slight burning sensation where the epididymitis is located. I should note that on the right testicle there is a spider vein, which I don't think was there and the veins are a bit bigger and the skin is a bit more lose then on the left. Not by a lot.
Erections, ejaculations, penis urination seem all fine. No rashes, discharge, back pain.
I'm thinking of taking Azithromycin, would you advise this?

this isn't the doctor's forum - you have to pay to post there.

I have a small update.

I'm feeling better these past few days.

One really important thing, the vein that me and my doctor though was varicose on my left testicle, has gone away. What I mean by that it's normal now. So I don't know if it was swollen or there was some kind of clog.

I went and did a urine and blood test. Everything is fine.

I still get a slight burning sensation during the day 3-4 times. Almost never when standing or moving around.

Things are better then before. But I would like a doctor to give me an opinion on here if one gets to read this.

... i have a few scars. Two new one from early this year. But they didn't seem to be affected.

So your advice would be to wait a few more days and if things don't get better, go to the doctor again?

Taking Azithromycin wouldn't hurt right?

I should mention that before this. I had never taken antibiotics in my life. I'm very healthy. I don't drink, don't smoke, never done any kind of drugs. walk about 15 miles a day on most days. I go every where by foot.

I stopped taking doxy 5 days ago. Do you think it will take care of it? Or should I get on it again.

I had no side effects from the two weeks taking it, so I'm not scared about taking it again. There is no sun now where I live, it's always cloudy and cold and will be like that till March. So I'm not worried about the sun. Although it did worry me about hyperpigmentation cause

I wouldn't bother with azithromycin at this point. you didn't have a std risk so the doxy should take care of most of what would cause this.

if it's not better in a few days, return to be seen again.

PS: Even if I have some slight swelling right now, it's not always there. I mean I remember days when it wasn't and days when it was.

Someone please offer some advice. Because it's a hassle going to the doctor over here and they don't seem to care. I'm unemployed and can't afford to go to a private clinic. I don't want to self medicate but I don't have a lot of choices. I'm not in a great deal of pain or anything. I walk around fine. When I'm up and about I feel nothing. It's when I sit down or lay do the problems start. Even though I use to feel it standing up as well.

He just saw me for like 10 min, we talked he took a look and said it's epidiymtitis. I don't live in the US, I live in a small country in Europe. Health care isn't great over here, especially the free kind.

I actually might have some slight swelling on the left testicle. Above it, where the epideymitis is located cause it's kind of dense. I think I might have some right now.

I'm 24 and not sexually active.

I keep thinking that I got some kind of bacteria in my friends basement cause I was moving, bricks in there and there was humidity, then I was digging and touching soil with my hands. It was in his summer home in the mountains.

I've never before had any problems with my genitals. So this is alarming to be. I just went out and bought Azithromycin and waiting for someone online to tell me that it might work to try it. I'm reading up about it. I need to know if there is another class of antibiotics that can kill enteric bacteria other than the levofloxacin class, cause at day two taking them I felt great and thought this ordeal was over.

Also warm baths help. I don't feel anything after them for like an 1 hour. And my doctor said not to think about it too much, maybe it's just in my head. But like I said I've never had any problems down there, so it's not like I'm gonna start think about it now.
