This isn't a normal sequel of events, and you should let your doctor know that you are still experiencing some symptoms that you had before, and also have new symptoms.
I'd also call and find out where your results are. 10 days is plenty of time to get the results back in.
Aj
Hi-
Yes I had thought of calling the doc tomorrow and letting her know of the new symptoms. When I did go for the Azithromycin and check up she did say I may need to get a shot if in fact it was gonorrhea that I had.
I guess it is possible I had gonorrhea all this time and obviously 1 gram of Azithromycin isn't enough to cure it?
No, the azith won't cure gonorrhea, but speculating is only going to drive you crazy. Its possible that this is something with the prostate as well.
Aj
Thanks! Yea the speculating doesn't help at all.
So I got my results back for gonorrhea and chlamydia testing and they both came back negative. The test was done via urine sample and now i'm not sure what I have or even if the urine test results are accurate. I've read that you should not urinate an hour before the sample is taken, I was not aware of this and this was not mentioned to me at the time I went to get tested. Also, the burning when urinating was pretty strong at the time and I had read that 1/2 tsp of baking soda with 1 cup of water help neutralize the acidity in urine and cause less buring sensation. I had done this a few times the day before and right before I left my home to get tested. This was all less than hour...not sure if any of these two things would really affect results.
Any past experience on whether urine tests are less accurate than actual swab sample?
I'm scared sh*tless of what I may have and going to get tested for all stds elsewhere tomorrow. Preferrably non urine based test!
What else could have caused my symptoms (listed on my first post above) besides gonorrhea and chlamydia which according to these tests I don't have? I'm on day 11 and some of the symptoms I had before are gone. Mainly the pain when urinating, the discharge came and went although I had a little bit yesterday ...maybe it was just Urithritis or Prostatitis/prostate related as AJ mentioned. Seems that whateve it was the azithromycin helped sooth the situation.
I have been dealing with a clinic not a GP and the nurse practictioner who saw me is now out of town!? So I am looking forward to new testing and taking it from there.
Urine tests are quite accurate, and you are right that the timing and the baking soda stuff might have affected the tests.
Whenever you go for any testing, the best thing is to just leave things in their natural state - you can shower, but other than that, no lotions, no creams, nothing.
Aj
thanks. Feel a little better knowing the test results are likely not 100%. I just wan to know what I have so I can get cured :)
Hi- while in the car this afternoon thinking about dinner plans I realized something about my diet. I've been in a protein rich diet for about 5-6 months now...I basically eat chicken, fish, or pork for dinner which I ALWAYS prepare with lemon juice from a bottle, garlic powder and pepper. It's quick, simple and I'm not a chef so this really makes for a quick way to prepare a nice meal that tastes like something decent. I use alot of lemon juice and the other ingredients which is making me think I may have cause my bladder and prostate to become irritated leading to prostatitis. As I read more about certain diets and ingredients in food it made me think that this could be a possibity??? What are your thoughts.
Its a possibility, but talk to your doctor about it. I don't know how much lemon is too much lemon, ya know?
Aj
yup, definately doing that...
Did you ever figure this out??
