Throat infection

Hi,
I think I might have contracted Gonorrhea of the throat. Two days after oral the back of my throat is red and raw. I have no fever and it seem to be red during the day more than night. I don't have much of a sore throat like when swallowing but the back feels raw.
I read that Gonorrhea will self eliminate over time is that right? I hope clinics test for it. Some have told me they do not test for oral.
Any advice would be appreciated.

well dear the movies aren't the real world and you should never, ever rely on what you see in them as "safe" sex!!!

no one takes the time to educate folks on safe sex and why protected oral is so important. if they did, far more people would be having protected oral sex and this forum would have half the questions it does which means vance and I would have more time to read books ,watch tv, cook and get fatter :)

it's just not worth the worry to have unprotected oral sex with someone who isn't a regular partner who you are in a monogamous relationship with and have had proper std testing with.

Hey Grace, Just reading through some of your replies about oral sex. I know protected is the gold standard but how about the real world? Most do not use a condom for oral. heck even in the movies they protect for all except oral. Is it really that safe?

I know now how to cure anything.

Simply make and appointment with a specialist. Most of the time you have to wait for a week or two. By that time you will be over it as now my sore throat is completely gone!!. last night it still hurt and this morning it was gone. Go figure.
Thank for your expertize..

you have absolutely no reason to think that this is a sign of a std!!

also why not assume that the folks you saw had a good education and know actually what they are talking about? some of us do you know!!!

Gezzz what do I have to do? Went to the county STD clinic and told them of my sore throat. It on only on the right side and feels like it is more under my tongue. Asked if I could get swabbed for gonorrhea. She said it doesn't look like it and swabbed me for strepp. I got and HIV and std test have to wait 10 days for results. Now I made an appointment with an ENT but have to wait til the 9th. I think the medical profession is getting really dumbed down.
Now I have to sweat this for 10 days. Hope it is not a sign of HIV.

Going to the Doc tomorrow. I still have this sore throat which as I read is a symptom of something. I hope its not HIV. this is my third day with it. My throat is red in the back. Mild one though. I hope he checks it for gonorrhea

you go and be seen like you would for any other sore throat. while your doctor is feeling your neck and stuff, just casually say -do you think this could be an oral std ?  I've given unprotected oral sex recently and can't help but wonder about it.  - that's a good way to start the discussion :)

you have every right to ask to be alone with your doctor. if they have med students, you can refuse them too. it's all part of your rights as a patient.

Well I am still a little worried about this throat. Now I have a small sore throat on the right side only.

I am having a difficult time trying to formulate how I will tell a Doc. about my oral exposure.

These Doc. never seem to come in the room without  a side kick. I would like a little privacy. Oh well

Ya, I think your right. I just read an old post from DR HHH he said oral std very hard to get and gonorrhea will clear itself up in throat but rally hard to get. I think I got a run of the mill virus or allergies. Thanks for your interest.

odds are this isn't a std going on. go and be seen and get a proper exam and some basic testing done for strep throat and discuss with your doctor if it's worthwhile to also swab for oral std's or not too.
