molloscum treatment

I just got back from my Gyno about the rash-like bumps I had on the external part of my vagina. For the most part they seemed to be going away from my vagina, and are now on my inner thigh. My doctor told me that I have been infected with the Molluscum virus and that it isn't necessarily transmitted during sex but can be from anything (swimming, hot tubs, towels etc) but when I got home and Googled it, it says that in adults (I'm almost 22) it is primarily transmitted during Sex (since it is on my genitals). He told me that there was nothing I could do and that they go away on their own, but on the websites I visited it says that the bumps can last up to 3 years! Is there any kind of cream or home-remedy I can use to get rid of them faster? He said that most people "pop" them to get rid of them but I'm afraid that might cause more spreading since it is so contagious. What should I do? I just feel dirty.

Ohhh good instinct in not popping them.

Your doc can treat them by freezing them, or can prescribe aldara for you to treat them at home.

If you don't have insurance, you can try a Planned Parenthood or std clinic - they can freeze them for a low cost.

Most molluscum sores don't last nearly 3 years, though they can.
