2 grams of Zithromax

I was prescribed 2 Grams of Zithromax and wondered if I could split it up over 2 days instead of taking the full 8 pills at once. I'm afraid of the upset stomach and diarrhea . Just wondering if I cansplit up the dosage and get the same results?

In the US, we give 1 gm as well for chlamydia.  If that's what you were treating, the 2 gm is overkill.

absolutely right to follow what your doctor prescribed, I am just lettng you know what we do in the UK for chlamydia and hopefully putting your mind at ease as regards whether you took them all at once or not.

OK..yes the diarrhea is has set in.  London08 maybe correct for this, but i guess it depends on what the medication was being used to treat i guess..im not a DR..but i guess its good to believe and follow what your DR. prescribed.

In England we only give a single gram of zithromax for chlamydia as that is considered more thsan enough to kill the offending organism. 2 grams is really overkill in my opinion and it is more likely to give you antibiotic side effects such as diarrhoea. I would definately say that if it is chlamydia you are treating, 1 gram is enough and certainly taking it over two days would be fine. take care
