Can I get syphilis if I had a prodected sex with someone who is diagnosis positive?

Hi All,
I’m 28 years old gay. I met two guys a week ago for a random hookup, we had protected sex with lot of foreplay "oral: kissing, body contacts and su**ing. After a week i got a massage from one of the guys says that he went for std check and his result came positive for syphilis. I went to the sexual heath clinic today but were not able to see the doctor or get tested, i don't have any symptoms but i feel itchy all the time now. Is there is a chance i can be negative if i didn't have a direct contact with infected sore?

Hi to contract syphilis you need rubbing contact in a mucus area like your genitals or mouth with an active chancre or a syphilis rash. also when a person tests positive a second more accurate test is performed to confirm.
