Chlamydia?

I recently had sex with my new girlfriend for the first time without using protection. About a week later (8-9) days, I began experiencing faily contant penile discharge (although not much). The fluid was basically clear. As well, i began experiencing discomfort when urinating and noticed the tip of my urethra was slightly red. I also began experiencing discomfort in my testicles from time to time. Within a week, I was told I had chlamydia although a proper test wasn't performed and two antibiotics were prescribed (one was a one time deal). About three days into the antibiotics, the discharge stopped and the pain during urination stopped. However, having just finished the treatment, I am still experiencing some testicle discomfort.

Does this sound like an STD like chlamydia? Do you think it is possible that it could be something other than an STD?

If either of you were sexually active before, it is possible this was brought into the relationship...whatever it is.  No, what you had was discharge.  Hopefully, it has been taken care of and she did not get anything or has anything.

Also just to mention again that although I never really examined the discharge that closely - I do know that is was clear and watery and although was not that much, happened pretty well at a constant rate. It also had a bad smell that I could notice unless I cleaned up regularly. After doing my own research I started to wonder if it could have been urine - but I think I would have been able to tell that I can't imagine losing urine at that kind of a constant rate.

Only about a month. My biggest fear is that I upset her over nothing. I still wonder if it could be something else. It's been about a wee since I finished the antibiotics. The only thing I've been noticing the last couple of days is some slight tenderness around my left side (maybe around the kidneys?). The left more so than the right and is really tender today. Could it be a kidney infection? I have no other symptoms. I may just be paranoid right now. STD still seems to have been the best fit I guess.

It is understandable she is upset.  How long have you been together?

I am still seeing her. I told her as soon as the antibiotics seemed to be helping and she has gone to get checked although she seems pretty upset. Most of my symptoms are gone now - like i mentioned, the antibiotics helped stop the discharge in only a few days. I still wonder if it could have been a UTI, however I don't think a UTI would have resulted in the constant clear watery discharge?

Based on the symptoms you described, it sounds like it could very well have been chlamydia or NGU.  But are you sill seeing your girlfriend?  If so, you really should have her get tested as well.  Otherwise, if this indeed was/is chlamydia or even NGU, she will give it to you again.

It has actually been a couple of days since I finished the antibiotics but I agree it will probably take more time. But based on the fact that most of my symptoms did go away almost immediately, and based on the symptoms I was experiencing, do you think that it was most likely an std? I am only looking for others' opinions since I wasn't technically diagnosed. Thanks.

It has only been 3 days.  It can take several weeks for all symptoms to go away.  If you are still feeling the discomfort in 2 weeks, follow up with your provider.
