Concern over possible STI, in search of feedback

Before I schedule an appointment, take off work, drive all the way downtown, wait in line and shell out money at the clinic to get tested, I'd like to know if my concern is legitimate enough to do so.

I "hooked up" with a woman over a week ago (9 days to be exact).  I do not know this woman's sexual history.  We engaged in some deep french kissing, and then peformed oral sex on each other for about 20 minutes.  I did not ejaculate but I believe I gave her an orgasm.

After the meeting, I started to develop symptoms.  The remainder of that day, I felt light headed, "buzzed" would be a good word.  For the next few days, I had a lingering odor/taste of her vaginal liquid in my mouth and nose.  It was most noticeable when I would awake from sleep.  Like most people, I blow my nose and expell whatever flem is in my throat.  The odor/taste was not necessarily unpleasant, but noticeable to say the least.

I also developed a mild "itchy" discomfort in my urethra.  This seemed to have gone away.

The most severe symptom developed a few days ago.  I awoke one morning with a strong vaginal taste/odor emanating from my throat.  Brushing my teeth, mouthwash, breath mints could not mask the odor.  Later that evening, it developed into a throat irritation whenever I swallow.

As of now, I'm having mild to severe pain swallowing.  The pain is only on one side of my throat, near the location of my tonsils I believe.  I also have some pain in my ear on the same side.  This pain is deep, inner ear area.  That pain comes and goes but the throat pain remains at all times.

At this point, I'm starting to grow some concern.  I did some research on STD symptoms and the best match for my case is a gonorrhea infection of the throat.  What do you guys/gals think?  Seasonal bug or do you think I am infected with a STD?

sounds like you've done your homework and this could be oral gonorrhea, or it could be some other virus running its course.  Go get checked out, it's the only way to be sure.  There are many bacteria in the vagina and just like Grace said, it's not a high risk activity to perform oral sex on a female, but there is some risk.  So the answer to your question is, yes, there could be some reason for concern here, but you will need to go in and be tested to figure out what's going on.

whether or not either of you orgasms makes no difference in std risk.

no std causes symptoms the same day.

oral sex is low risk but  not no risk. we recommend that all sexual contact is protected so that it saves you worry like this as well as protects you.

are you likely to have an oral sex?  you can potentially get one but honestly it sounds more like an upper respiratory infection than anything at this point.

totally up to you if you want to follow up on this. no reason to do so before monday - by that point you'll know if you have caught the stuff going around that many of us have had or if it's more likely something std related that needs testing and treatment.
