Is it possible I caught hsv1?

12 years ago I had sex with a boyfriend that did not tell me he had hsv1 genitally. We had sex one night and the next day he told me he had just started an outbreak so we would have to abstain from sex.

I have had blood tests and all have come back negative. I do however get reoccurring cuts, that every doctor I have ever seen has said it was not herpes. I have had them swabbed just to be sure.

Years ago on gyno who couldn’t figure out what it was said maybe it was in fact herpes bc of the reoccurrences in the same area. Of course that swab and blood test came back negative as well.

I guess my concern is what are the odds I am one of the 10% of people who have hsv1 and consistently have negative blood tests ?

hi your over thinking this.  getting hsv1 genital from a one time incident is close to zero esp if he started to have an outbreak the next day.

Thank you for commenting. I am a paranoid person. The reoccurring cuts is what always freaked me out. I guess I should just accept that I am fine and maybe have a skin allergy of some kind.

Thank you.
At the time it was only his second outbreak . So the night before he would most likely have prodome symptoms. Do you still think it’s safe to say I’m fine?
