Genital Herpes or something else?

Ok, I guess I'll go straight to the point.

About a month ago I had unprotected vaginal sex with a girl. I seem to remember my penis being sore for a few days even straight after the sex. A couple of days after my penis head feeling quite itchy - almost ticklish at times.

A few days after, the itching stopped and I noticed small red spots scattered around the head of my penis.

Being concerned, went to the doctor, explained to him and he gave me some clotrimazole cream. He explained to me just by looking I had been "too rough" and to put this cream on twice a day for 10 days.

After about a week of using these spots had disappeared. There were no other symptoms, I did not have any discharge, or big blisters/ulcers. After reading so many things on the internet, it's hard for me to know if I really do have symptoms such as soreness during the day or if it's all in my head.

I did not have a burning sensation when urinating or headaches/flu like symptoms either, so surely if it was herpes and it was a first outbreak, it should have been a lot worse rightt?

I am hopeful it could be something else, but I am worried.

Would really appreciate some feedback and opinions.

External irritations are symptoms of fungus or yeast.

**** EDIT ****

The redness is like small pimples but are underneath the skin and is around the base of the head, not the tip of the penis.

If that makes any difference.

I'm worried

Thanks for your response... I know you cannot say for sure whether it is or not but a second opinion is a little bit relieving.

Having had Chlamydia in the past before a few years ago, I remember the paranoia I had thinking it could be something else at the time.

Anxiety issues are horrible. To make things worse, I don't know if it's all in my head but recently after these red painless spots have disappeared, I have just redness on the tip of my penis, they aren't pimples but red patches almost - I feel sensitivity in the end of my penis which is uncomfortable and I have aching in my testicles.... Which I've never had before.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Hi, i would go with your doctors advise. The usual symptom of herpes is a blister type sore with a clear fluid that shows up 2 to 10 days after exposure. and often in clusters

The only way to know if you have acquired herpes is to test in 3 months but from your discription doesnot seem herpes related. I would test anyway just to be sure.
