You are really unlikely to ever transmit it. We know that ghsv1 sheds about 3% of days/year compared to 15% of days/year with ghsv2.
You are also far less likely to get recurrent outbreaks with any frequency - 50% will never get another one, and the average for those who do is 1 a year or 1 every other year (can't remember).

Taking meds is up to you, but many experts feel as Jenny's doctor does in that its not necessary. If it helps your peace of mind, then take it. :)

I take a suppresent everyday as it give me a piece of mind, but my OB thinks its unnecessary. In the 3 or 4 years I've had HSV1 gentially, I've only had one other outbreak besides the original. I always use condoms, have not transmitted it but I do worry about that ...
