Gonorrhea [and or] Chlamydia Timescales and differences

Well its happened, Gonorrhea has been diagnosed.  Have spent the past couple of days hunting for information on what the options might be and noticed theres lots of vague 'possibilities' discussed on most websites, lots of contradictions, and absolutely nothing from the UK perspective.  Does anyone know the differences and effectiveness between US and UK treatments?  Most importantly however, is there a guide on the pain-easing timescales (peeing broken glass versus the urge to pee isnt a dilema im enjoying right now).

Well today I finished the last of the medication.  Still got half the URISPAS as the pain stopped and what amazed me is how quickly the 'heavy discharge' took to stop after taking the medication - literally within hours of taking CIPROFLOXACIN.  Have read a lot of people taking other medications who have to endure discharge for several days after starting medications.  The ones I was given were instantly effective.

Well with the discharge gone and not returning as of yet (knock on wood) it does mean it is getting better.

Nothing further to report.  The pain is still there but very mild (and the URISPAS deals with that completely) and the discharge has never returned after vanishing hours after taking the CIPROFLOXACIN.  Three days left of meds to go and thats it done (*touch wood).

Today I woke and the discharge is basically gone.  Things seem a little moist down there (we have foreskins here in the UK) but the gunk is definitely absent and the pain while peeing is down 95%.  I first took the pills at 5pm yesterday and its now 10am and everything is almost cleared up but I still have 13 full days of CIPROFLOXACIN 500mg twice daily to take - this seems to be far more effective and prompt than anything I've read online about this. Ya gotta love the NHS  :-)

Today I went to the doctor (about 10 days after exposure) with extreme pain while peeing, the constant urge to pee and a sticky discharge; all three appeared over night on Thurs [48 hrs ago] and has never stopped.  He even said on the phone to a Registrar that it was 'heavy discharge'.  He took a swab and prescribed URISPAS 200mg (3 daily for one week)  for the pain and CIPROFLOXACIN 250mg (500mg twice daily for two weeks).

The peeing pain is bracing to say the least, however (only 4 hrs after taking the first one) the Urispas is stopping the pain lingering as it did before.  I imagine the Cipro will take a while to have any effect.
