There is some light at the end of the tunnel. If you are a healthy person with a normal immune system then your immune system may be able to clear the infection in 12-24 months. Again, the studies that show this are very recent and this isn't true for every strain of HPV.
There are some herbs and other organic compounds that have been found to increase immune system activity - lysine is one. You might want to do some research on these as there is the off-chance it may help you clear the infection. But, again, this has been untested and may do nothing in the end.
Hi there -
If the aldara is making you feel uncomfortable, then stop using it. There isn't any reason you can't get them frozen off. It won't scar, you won't be disfigured.
Personally, I am not known for my patience, and wouldn't want to fool around with aldara, which can take up to 16 weeks to work, when going and getting them frozen might take care of them with a few treatments. The freezing might hurt, but at least it will be over faster.
If your doc doesn't do that, then call Planned Parenthood or your local std clinic. They can do it there.
There's no reason to feel gross. 80% of people will have HPV in their lifetime. You certainly aren't alone. For more info, you might want to post in the HPV forum here, or check out www.ashastd.org.
