If i get herpes from recieving oral sex is it definetly hpv-1?

Hi I am currently on vacation, so basically I had a one night stand with some girl I met at a club I had protected sex but recieved oral sex without a condom. Its was stupid but I am young and I was drunk and I hadnt had sex in a while. so a little while later I had pain on my lower back and left leg and I noticed a couple of very small bumps on the bottom of my penis that eventually scarred. They were not gross and it didnt hurt but all signs point to herpes. I will get tested when I get back home which is in two weeks. What I basically wanted to know was because I contracted the herpes from the oral sex is it definetly hpv-1 or would it be hpv-2 even though I read it is very hard to get hpv-2 from recieving oral sex. Please only seriouse answers Thanks

It could be a recurrence.

Since you used a condom for sex, you don't need to worry about HIV.

Unfortunately until you get home to get tested, it'll be almost impossible to figure out what you had.  It's way too late for a herpes lesion culture and a blood test will only tell you what you have and not where you have it. You are far more likely to contract hsv1 orally than genitally so unless you get a return of genital lesions that you can get cultured and typed, you'll never know if you have a + hsv1 result on the igg blood test if it's oral or genital.

At this point it sounds like everything is healed since you mention it's scarred your skin. Not much you'll be able to get in the way of answers unfortunately.  Should you have a recurrence of any symptoms, see your provider promptly for further evaluation.

HPV is not herpes it is a different virus. The herpes viruses are HSV1 and HSV2.

The scenario that you describe carries several possibilities:

a. You do not have herpes, but instead have some other issue like folliculitis
b. You contracted HSV2 from protected sex due to exposure at the base of your penis
- This is possible but the chance is low that she had herpes, the herpes was active, the condom did not protect you, and you were already infected
- It happens, but is uncommon
c. You contracted HSV1 from unprotected oral sex
- Same discussion as in (b)
d. You already had herpes, but never noticed the symptoms

If you get tested bring your results back here for interpretation. Be sure to only get a type specific test like Herpes Select (that is the test name).
