Herpes of Molluscum???

I went to the doctor today and after looking at my infected area he concluded that I have molluscum not herpes and did not order a blood test.  I have these bumps off and on for about the last 2 years, like them come back unpredictably every 3-5 months, which is one part that does not seem consistent with MC.  Am I wrong to think that the fact they are recurrent is odd for MC?  I know to trust my doctor and I do I am just doing some more info gathering.  Thanks.

it's definitely worth getting tested for herpes. all of us should be getting it done periodically since condoms are only 30% reduction in transmission of herpes.

get a 2nd opinion from a dermatologist.

I also read that herpes only appears on one side of my body's "midline" and  Ive definetly had symptoms on both sides.

it would be unusual for mc to appear in the pattern to which you have described.

if this has been going on for 2 years, definitely get a herpes igg blood test to see what your status is.

You can order it up yourself through www.healthcheckusa.com or www.tstd.org if either have a lab near you. Just get the igg test and I can help you with the results on the herpes forum when you get them.

the only thing that concerns me is the recurrences which i havent seen anything saying that molluscum does that, what ive been reading says it comes stays awhile and goes away?  Im inclined to believe my doc, he says he sees it often enough, and he knows more than me, just want to get as much info as possible.

If you have doubts then you should just get tested, When ever you are doubting your doctor there is no point in asking a million questions because at the end of the day you are still going to doubt those answers to your questions.

It could be many thing to diagnose it just by looking at it is an okay method but not 100% accurate... he/she could have done a live virus scrapping.

I would suggest getting a test for HSV just to calm your nerves and if you've had unprotected sex you may want to consider having a full std panel.
