Herpes??

I am a 26 year old male who recently had unprotected sex with a girl I met while on vacation. Within 3 days, I noticed 3-4 bumps behind my knee on the right side of my body which were extremely painful. Shortly after, I noticed that my lymph nodes in my groin area (also on my right side) were swollen. The following day I noticed a small patch of bumps on my behind (also the right side), which haven't actually turned into red bumps, mostly beneath the skin but painful. I scheduled an appointment with a doctor, who put me on antibiotics, and said the bumps behind my knee were probably bug bites. However, I am 90% positive all of these symptoms are related as they all came at once, and i've never had a "bug bite" of this nature. The bumps behind my knee feel like they have something swollen under the skin, very painful to touch, and scabbed over within a few days. The ones on my behind are pretty much in the same state they have always been.

I have been taking the antibiotics for about 4 days now and have noticed that the lymph nodes have gone down a bit, but no change in the red bumps (he wasn't treating me for those as he thought they were bug bites). After searching all over the internet I wasn't able to find one case of someone with herpes behind the knee, but I have a feeling whatever this is it is as a result of having unprotected sex with this female.

I can't even sleep I have myself so nervous. Does anyone have any ideas as to what this could be? Any input would be greatly appreciated. I think I am going to schedule another doctors appointment.. :(

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately I have no contact with her, so I am unable to tell in that aspect. I forgot to mention in my last post I have been sicker than I can ever remember for the same period of time. I just wish I knew what it was... :(

The onset time for symptoms and swollen groin lymph nodes are consistent with herpes.  However, I've never head about it in the knee location either.  And be aware, infections in other locations can cause lymph node swelling in your groin.  I wouldn't be surprised if the knee is close enough to do it.  Since the Dr saw them and didn't think it was herpes, I'd tend to agree.  However, I'd probably get tested in 3 months just to sort it out.

Is there any way you can know your partner's status?  That would be the most telling.
