I was recently diagnosted with Clamydia after urine tests (with trich and gonnorea negative) upon noticing a small amount of white discharge at pretty intervals. I immediately received treatment (1g azithromycin) and my significant other received the same treatment a day later at a different provider (without ever testing positive).
10 days after treatment it appeared that my symptoms had subsided, and we resumed unprotected sex for three days, until I noticed my symptoms return.
After two and a half weeks, my discharge was still present (mostly in the mornings or if I didn’t urinate within 2 hours). I went and was retested using urine and swab and tested negative for both gonnorea and Clamydia. However, because I didn’t know in that moment that I was negative, I was prescribed a full week of doxy, which I completed and which did get rid of symptoms.
My significant other, at week three, was treated for both Clamydia and yeast infection, and her symptoms have subsided.
My questions are:
1) why was I still experiencing these symptoms if I was negative according to the labs?
2) since my original treatment worked, is there any reason to think that on days 10-13 that I was still contagious and that my significant other’s symptoms were a testament to that?
3) is it likely that her symptoms could mean that her treatment failed and she just didn’t pass it back to me after having sex three times?
Thanks!
