Hydrocortisone 1% Permanent damage to penis possible or not?

I was prescribed Daktacort 2x daily for 2 weeks for  what doctor diagnosed as penile yeast infection .  It cleared up then came back two weeks later and the doctor said do another week with the Daktacort.  Didn't really clear up totally.  I started reading about it and got worried as some of the information on the internet talks about permanent damage to the penis and long lasting problems.  The third week's treatment finished a few days ago and the thing looks like it may irrupt again, but i notice very smooth, thin looking skin  I just want to know whether there is any chance of permanent damage with the amount that I have applied,  Any advice welcome.  I intend to get a second medical opinion but would like some views from the forum too, particularly if there is a doctor on the line> Thank you

Hey, I had the SAME exact situation as you.  Two months ago, two GP's told me to use 1% Hydrocortisone on my penis for what appeared to be a nasty rash.  I was told to use it for up to 4 weeks.  Well, after 2 weeks, the rash was gone, but I noticed my penis skin was much tighter, shinier when erect, and the the part of the shaft where I applied it had turned lighter, more pale, and more transparent.

It has now been exactly 2 months and my penis has not returned to normal.  The skin is much more sensitive and easily irritated if I am not careful.

This is causing me a headache and a bit of anxiety.

Let this be a lesson to anyone who is told to use Hydrocortisone on the penis.  The known side effects are possible in a short period of time.

I hope things have gotten better for you.

and if you're ever having a bad reaction to something you sould talk to your doctor about getting prescribed something else. Same goes for if it isn't working.

we don't give out perscription advise, you need to talk to your health care provider. not every thing you read is true or 100% accurate.
