I'm devastated.

I'm a healthy 38 year old Male, eat pretty right and exercise regularly. I look far younger than my age, far younger. Towards the end of April I was given unprotected oral sex for no more that a minute or two by a girl I met at a bar. By the End of June a grey cluster appeared on my foreskin. I've had this sore on my penis for all of July, August and currently. I have not had sex since the oral sex. I do remember having flu like symptoms sometime back and am guessing the sore appeared after that 1 or two day sickness. I've had this grey cluster/sore on my foreskin for nearly 11 weeks. It's never itched or burned or caused me any sort of discomfort save for visually disturbing. I've tried A+D Ointment, Gold Bond, Hydrocortisone cream 1 %, and Lotrimin. I suspended them all since none worked. I went to the Dermatologist. He took one look at it and told me it was HSV 2. He prescribed Valtrex. To be taken Twice a day for ten days. I'm on day three and the sore is still there. I have read that if you've had a sore on your penis for so long that there is a chance it's not Herpes. I think about it so much, that I think my mind is playing tricks on me. Since the DR diagnosed this three days ago, I'm having tingling sensations around my mouth. No outbreaks there. I believe the tingling sensation around my mouth is all in my mind because I've read so much about this disgusting disease. I supposed I could have a blood test to absolutely confirm if it's true that I have this terrible disease. My question: Is there is a possibility that it isn't Herpes since it doesn't itch or burn or spread and it's been there for 11 weeks?? If so, what else could it be? Please help, I'm devastated.

This is definitely something for a sexual health clinic to look at. Like I said let us know what they say. Good luck my friend.

It doesn't talk does it?! Ha sorry had to ask. I'm at a loss as to what it could be so suggest going to a sexual health clinic as they're the real experts in this field. Please let me know what you find out. I'd be amazed if this was herpes though.

It is semi circular, dry, grey, painless and with in the circle it looks like two eyes and a mouth.  That makes sense ??  Three circles with in the circle.  The entire thing is smaller that a US Dime.

No problem. Please explain this cluster in a little more detail. Is it a number of little bumps very close together? I understand about the cost I can't even imagine how much of a pain this must be. I think sexual health should be free as this only encourages people away from getting tested.

Hello Tony-

Thanks for responding to me.  This sounds very encouraging.  I've suspected this before I went to the Dermatologist but when he diagnosed it (visually) I freaked out.  I couldn't think straight to explain to him that the unusualness of what I've been experiencing compared to what I've read.

There is no fluid in the cluster.  It's smaller than a dime and grey. It's doesn't itch or burn, it's just there haunting my life.

I'm going to finish up with the Valtrex and see what happens and then I'm going in for a blood test and culture.  It's tough in the US when you don't have insurance.  It gets expensive.

This really doesn't sound like herpes in my opinion. This is because of the amount of time this cluster has been present. 11 weeks is too long for the first herpes outbreak which normally last no longer than 4-5 weeks. Also this cluster would normally be very painful and constantly uncomfortable. Is there any fluid in these bumps at all? I 100% recommend a blood test to find out if this is indeed HSV-2. A doctor shouldn't confirm herpes without some kind of blood test or swab of the area. As to what this could be I'm usure but it really doesn't sound like herpes to me.
